ANTI RAGGING POLICY

  • Ragging is a criminal offense. Ragging is strictly prohibited by both and the  State Government and Central Government. Punishment for ragging will be as follows;

  • Imprisonment up to three years and a  fine of Rs.75,000/-

  • Dismissal from the college

OBJECTIVES

  • To prohibit, prevent, and eliminate the scourge of ragging, including any conduct by any student whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student.

  • To monitor, direct and oversee the functions and performance of the Anti-Ragging Squads in prevention and curbing of ragging in the institution.

  • The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision, with regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging, nature and gravity of the incident of ragging.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be vigilant at all hours all around the campus and other places vulnerable to incidents of, and having the potential of, ragging and shall be empowered to inspect such places.
  • Anti-Ragging Committee to ensure compliance with the provisions of regulations as well as the provisions of any law for the time being in force concerning ragging; and also to monitor and oversee the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad in preventing ragging in the institution.

  • To make surprise raids on hostels and other places vulnerable to incidents and having the potential for ragging.

  • To conduct an on-the-spot enquiry into any incident of ragging referred to it by the faculty, student, parent, or guardian, as the case may be, and the enquiry report along with recommendations shall be submitted to the Head of the Institution for action.
  • To ensure the display of posters on Institution and department notice boards and other prominent designated places.

  • To Provide counselling services and raise awareness among the students.

In this regard , our college has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee. The Committee is headed by Dr. K. G.Parthiban, Principal, along with other committee members comprising  senior faculties and hostel wardens.
  • Anti-Ragging Squad members and Anti-Ragging Bus In charge have been deputed from all departments to monitor students’ discipline both inside the campus and on board. In order to maintain discipline among boys and girls’ hostels, Anti-Ragging Committee hostel In Charge has been allotted.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL POLICY

According to University Grants Commission guidelines stipulated, our college has established a Grievance Redressal Committee. The Committee functions to look into the grievances lodged by any student. Students may approach the Committee to voice their grievances regarding academic matters, health services, library and other services. Any form of discontent or dissatisfaction on the part of the students can be informed to the Committee. The Grievance Committee also looks into matters of harassment. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the Convener or member of the Grievance Committee. Grievances may also be sent through online by the link given in college website to the convener of the Grievance Redressal Committee. The Committee then redresses the grievances promptly and judiciously. As a result of this mechanism, the institute has pleasant ambient atmosphere and good work culture with in-built goodwill and mutual understanding among the students.

OBJECTIVES

  • The main objective of the Grievance Redressal Committee is to promote and maintain a conducive and harmonious educational environment among the students. The Grievance Redressal Committee is constituted for the redressal of the problems reported by the students of the College. This is with the following objectives in mind

  • Grievance Redressal Committee is formed in order to keep the healthy working atmosphere amongst staff, students and parents.

  • This Committee helps Students to record their complaints and solve their problems related to academics, resources and personal grievances freely and frankly without any fear of victimization.

  • To keep the dignity of the college high by ensuring conflict free atmosphere in the College by promoting good Student-Student relationship and Student-teacher relationship.

  • To ensure effective solution to the grievances with an impartial and fair approach.

  • In order to advising Students of the College to respect each other and be patient whenever any occasion of conflict arises.

  • To advise all the students to refrain from stirring up students against other students, teachers and College administration.

  • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the institution. Any violation of ragging and disciplinary rules should be urgently brought to the notice of the Principal. Ragging Complaints will be handled as per ragging rules.

  • Woman Harassment complaints will be handled as per government guidelines by respective sections.

INTERNAL COMPLIANCE POLICY

The Internal Compliance Cell of the college functions to eradicate any kind of sexual abuse. The soul motto of this policy is to provide protection against sexual harassment and giving immediate redressal of complaints. The Cell is well-designed with distinct objectives that are implemented to uphold zero tolerance towards sexual harassment. It addresses every complaint of the students, teaching and non-teaching staff members with utmost care and attention and the problem is resolved within the shortest time period possible. The Cell follows a systematic procedure in filing, investigating and resolving the issue and is impartial towards anyone to safeguard the integrity, privacy and rights of every person. The policy paves the way to give a healthy and safe atmosphere for all.

OBJECTIVES

  • To fulfill the directive of the Supreme Court, the sexual harassment of women at workplace Act 2013 and the Anna University in respect of implementing a policy against sexual harassment in the institution.
  • To evolve a mechanism for the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment cases and other acts of gender based violence in the institution.
  • To ensure the implementation of the policy in letter and spirit through proper reporting of the complaints and their follow-up procedures.
  • To provide an environment free of gender-based discrimination.
  • To ensure equal access of all facilities and participation in activities of the college.
  • To create a secure physical and social environment which will deter acts of sexual harassment

INCLUSIONSS

PURPOSE OF INTERNAL COMPLIANCE

The Internal Compliance Cell is framed, to prevent the sexual harassment that includes such unwelcome sexually determined behaviour (whether directly or by implication) as:.

  • Physical contact and advances.
  • A demand or request for sexual favours.
  • Sexually coloured remarks.
  • Showing pornography.
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

The following is also sexual harassment and is covered by the committee

  • Eve-teasing.
  • Unsavoury remarks.
  • Jokes causing or likely to cause awkwardness or embarrassment.
  • Gender based insults or sexist remarks.
  • Unwelcome sexual overtone in any manner such as over telephone (obnoxious telephone calls) and the like.
  • Forcible physical touch or molestation.
  • Physical confinement against one’s will and any other act likely to violate one’s privacy.

The Internal Compliance Cell assures all the complaints of the students, teaching and non-teaching staff members are treated with dignity and respect and the complaints should be maintained confidential.

False Reporting: Intentionally making a false report or providing false information is grounds for indiscipline.

Composition of the Internal Compliance  Committee

  • The Committee shall be headed by Principal as a Chairperson and a senior woman faculty of the college and shall be designated as the “Convener”
  • The committee shall have two senior teaching faculty members, among which one is senior male teaching faculty member.
  • The committee consists an advocate for the legal knowledge.
  • It consists not less than three teaching and one non-teaching female employees.
  • It consists a student member who shall be enrolled at the undergraduate level.
