DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is established in the year 2013 with a vision to develop competent professionals to meet the global challenges in modern engineering society. At present it offers a 4-year B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering programme with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. The Laboratories are equipped with latest technology in the fields of Electronic Devices and Circuits, Digital Electronics, Linear Integrated Circuits, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Digital Signal Processing, Communication System, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Optical & Microwave, Embedded systems that offer opportunities on a wide range of hardware and advanced software packages.

In addition to this, the Department has been equipped with TRIC (Technological Research Incubation Centre) for Research & Development Activities. The Department has a team of committed faculty members with sound knowledge in the areas of Applied Electronics, Communication systems, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Computer Communication and Networking. The Department encompasses Professional Associations such as Students Technical Association “VOLTROB”, and Technical Clubs “ECOM” & “MATCLUB” which provide students the platform to learn professional, programming and soft skills.

PROGRAMME oUTCOMES

Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialisation to the solution of complex engineering problems.

Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

Environment and sustainability: As one of the promising artificial intelligence engineering colleges in Coimbatore, we understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
